Want to be a trendsetter this fall?

I recently posted the fall '08 trends for New York city which is probably applicable to New Yorkers alone. Buuuut...to the people outside NYC, Apparelnews posted a trend forecast for Fall 2008. These trends were determined in recent shows including the Project Global Trade Show, Action Sports Retailer Trade Expo and the MAGIC Marketplace.

You'll probably recognize some of the trends you'll see in this entry (if you read the NY fall trends entry) so don't worry or fuss about it okay? Lol. So yeah, here are the Fall 2008 trends - which all are wittingly named again!

1. Bomb Squad - jackets are in this season: motorcycle and bomber styles are hot!

2. '80s Edge - okay, so NY will see the '70s back in action while the rest of the world (?) will rock with the '80s.

3. Retro Future Denim - jeans are redesigned and brought back to life for fall - yep, high-waisted ones included.

4. Knits - yep, like in NY, knitted clothes are hot this coming fall.

5. High-Tech - futurism is rampant!

6. Tee Time - t-shirts are in this coming season with bold punk-rock designs.

7. Plaid, Plaid World - plaid still looks great, especially on coats!

8. Frock Talk - vintage-styled frocks will replace the baby doll looks during fall.

9. Rock Chic - relieve the rock era and bring out the rockstar in you...no matter what decade!

10. Uni-Sex - utilitarian-meets-boy-meets-girl fashion. 'Nuff said.

11. Eco-Logic - environment-friendly industrial fabric-made clothes rev up the runway...and soon, the streets!

Want Color, Got Color

I guess everyone wants to jazz up their bags in one way or another....so here's one way of doing just that! Coach Japan released these new keyrings that will definitely, definitely add more life to an otherwise dull bag.

I am so in love with the star keyring! Too bad it costs a whole lot; I would love to get all of them :)

Darker Shades of Fall

Despite the numerous bursts of bright colors for this coming fall, Stella McCartney's 2008 RTW collection seem to focus on darker and more earthly tones as her clothes and accessories range from the colors gray, brown and black. The single blue dress looks lost amidst a sea of the colors I just mentioned, but it's cute. I like that lone blue dress.

Here are some of the accessories that goes with the collection. Personally, I think the shoes are hard to walk on!

Really bold.

Both of these are from Viktor & Rolf's fall 2008 collections. I find it intriguing because I can't really imagine how they were able to make those words stand out, when they seem to be made of the same material as the coats themselves. Anyone wants to try and guess?

Christian Lacroix Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear

Here's Christian Lacroix' Fall 2008 RTW collection. I like the pink, black and cream combination of the second dress but then again, the colors combination that he used for some of the dresses are lovely. Although I really do not fancy that huge fur hood (5th picture) and fur outerwear -- if they are fur.

New York, Welcome Your Fall 2008 Trends

Apparel News predicted (and wittingly named) the trends that will (or might) be prevailing this coming fall. The eleven different trends that you will get to know in just a short moment (after this introduction) were all seen during the different fashion shows that hit New York recently. They range from classic designs to chic and futuristic.

1. Star Trek - futurism invades fashion as superhero-inspired clothes take over the runway.

2. Fur - soft and in vogue, fur-lined clothes are in this fall...just make sure PETA doesn't catch you.

3. Knit Knack - classic takes on the runway knitted clothes make the new style.

4. Luxe Leather - throw away those bulky outerwear and make room for slick leather trenches, coats and the like.

5. Color Block - wanna know the new colors of fall? Forget the dark tones and switch to bright and colorful jewel tones.

6. Globe Trekker - welcome in different patterns from around the globe - modernized to add in that chic feel to it, of course.

7. High Shine - more futurism! Shiny clothes this fall will bring out that industrial feel to your wardrobe.

8. Uni-Form - unisex clothes make the new "preppy" look as it takes on a military touch to their designs.

9. Multi-Layered - architects will have a lovely time dressing up in these geometric architectural designs to these clothes.

10. '70s Chic - recycled fashion at its finest! Relive the rock era with bell bottoms, shirt-dresses and all those clothes that defined the '70s.

11. Surface Treatments - layered is a trend this coming fall as feathers, ombré treatments and other layerings cover and accentuate clothes.

There you have it ladies and gents! Well, New Yorkers primarily. Do you see yourself in one of these?

Fun, fun Dame Viv!

I recently featured some of the clothes for Vivienne Westwood's Red Label - which are totally cool, IMO. For her own line, Dame Viv's designs all look fun and colorful, they all look very nice to wear. You'd probably earn more than a handful of glances if you walk around wearing one of her clothes. Honestly, majority of Vivienne Westwood's fall '08 collection doesn't really look fall-ish to me. Well, a lot of the designs for fall '08 look more like spring fashion. But I guess that's the trend for the coming season.

Christian Dior Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear Bags

Here's the fall bags for Christian Dior's RTW line. The brightly colored bags are more suited for spring, IMO, but then again, they give more life to fall. I like the little keyring that's D-shaped. It makes the bags look a bit on the elegant side.

Oscars Fashion Trends

If you watched the recent 80th Academy Awards, you would've noticed that black and red are definitely the most outstanding colors among the guests. A sea of both colors is easily visible starting from the red carpet. Excluding the male stars, black was one of the prominent gown colors that night:

Fashion at the 80th Academy Awards Night

The 80th Academy Awards, just like all other Academy Awards night, features the biggest names in Hollywood all dressed up like there's no tomorrow. They're all very glitzy, glamorous and elegant but of course, there's one or two celebrities who aren't really that...[insert term here].

I think everyone wants to travel in style which is why Louis Vuitton came up with these luggages that you can use whenever you go on either a long or short trip. I don't know if there's anyone who doesn't want to be seen pulling one of these LV babies around the airport!

Marni Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear Shoes

These are Marni Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear shoe collection. They're lovely pairs of shoes - I like the styles and the colors. More importantly, the socks are gorgeous.

Roberto Cavalli Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear

These are Roberto Cavalli's Fall 2008 RTW collection. I think they're a bit "light" to be worn during fall, but heck, these would still look great even if they're under the ugliest trench coat, IMO.

Gucci Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear

These are from Gucci's Fall 2008 RTW collection. Looks like Gucci's ready to rock (later?) this year with these really nice clothes. I like the whole rocker-chick-goes-formal look, if you could call it that. And if given the chance, I would definitely, definitely wear all of these! I can really, really, really see myself rocking my bum late into the night dressed in Gucci's fall line.

Really cute necklace charms

I came across these really cute - and quite unique - necklace charms. The pictures here are the ones that I think were the cutest, like the Chinese take-out box, lobster claw, fortune cookie and the angel wings. These are all gold necklaces and charms so they fetch quite a high price in case you're interested in buying one :)

These bags are from the Bottega Veneta Fall 2008 RTW collection. I like the clutches this season, especially the purple one. I'm not really a fan of the black bags, as I prefer the colored ones more.

Meet Monochrome

NY Fashion interviewed five New Yorkers who all had one thing in common: monochrome. Yep, each of them have one favorite color and their style is focused around that. All their clothes, shoes and accessories (even furniture!) are in the color of their choice.

I think it's really cute, but personally, I don't think I can live without a whole lot of colors in my life! The blue and gray monochromes are quite appealing though... :)

Alberta Ferretti Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear Shoes

These are Alberta Ferretti's Fall 2008 RTW shoe collection. They're pretty much the same style, but the colors make me want to own them all - well the colored ones at least. I'm not that much of a fan of all black heels. It makes me feel like I'm going back to school!

Burberry Prorsum Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear Accessories

Here are some very cute necklaces from Burberry Prorsum's Fall 2008 RTW collection. The colors are on the darker shades (reflecting fall, perhaps?) but I'm pretty sure that these can be worn whether you're on a business meeting or a day out shopping for more clothes!

D&G Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear

Here we have the Fall 2008 RTW collection of Dolce & Gabbana. We see a lot of plaids but as you can see, the last few clothes of the collections have some pretty swirly bursts of colors that suit well with the checkered layout of plaids.

These are the shoes for Proenza Schouler's Fall 2008 RTW collection. Yeah, they all basically look the same, but they're still worthy of a post. I mean, don't they look cute? I love the ones colored green, yellow and red the most from all of these.

These are the footwear and bags for Matthew Williamson's Fall 2008 RTW collection. I like the bags more than I like the shoes, but I must admit that the shoes are definitely worth the second - third, fourth and fifth - look!

Natalie Portman's Vegan Shoes

Actress Natalie Portman collaborated with Te Casan to come up with eco-friendly shoes that are free of any animal testing and the like. Her designs are really elegant and the styles' names all start with the letter P...cute.

Luella Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear

These are Luella's Fall 2008 RTW collection. Truly reflecting fall, we see these Halloween-themed designs that will be perfect for parties that will happen in the months of October and November. Personally, orange and black isn't something I'd normally want to be seen in, but for costume parties, going trick-or-treating with the kids in some upscale neighborhood, I'd definitely want to be wearing one of Luella's fall clothes! I think Halloween has never been this stylish.

Vivienne Westwood Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear

These clothes are from the Fall 2008 RTW collection of Vivienne Westwood's Red Label. I became a fan of Vivienne Westwood's after I watched a Japanese movie called NANA. I really like her preppy-punk designs and they really rock my socks lol. We can see lots of plaids and lots of colors for fall but we can also see some formal wear here and there - some can even be used as corporate attire.

House of Holland Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear

These are House of Holland's Fall 2008 RTW. Since there are just 20 clothes, I decided to just put them all here. Well, they're very colorful and different which is a good thing. Okay, I like some of the designs - they're a bit edgy-preppy, if there's such a thing. And excuse me if I repeat myself but I really do like the colors!

Benetton: Africa Works

Africa Works is the slogan created by Fabrica for the ad campaign that will be put on billboards all over the world to celebrate the Senegalese entrepreneurs who received help from Birima (a micro-credit program started by singer Youssou N’Dour) to start their own small businesses. Benetton gives its financial support for the program.

The ads feature some of these Senegalese entrepreneurs whose businesses include textile trading, mobile toy stores, domestic appliance sales, carpentry and welding.

I think it's really great that they help these people find livelihood to support themselves. Seeing these pictures made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :) To know more about Africa Works, visit their official site here.

Here are some of the Spring 2008 Benetton collection. Yes, I know it's a tad too late to post these since spring has already begun. But then again, it's still spring, so you can just go to the nearest Benetton store and grab these wonderfully colored clothes and buy yourself some shoes and other accessories too while you're there.

Krystof Strozyna Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear

These are the Fall 2008 RTW collection of Krystof Strozyna. Honestly, it's my first time hearing his name which doesn't really come as a surprise since these clothes are from his debut fashion show. I love the immaculately white dresses. They all look pure and simple and can be worn on any occasion. The other colors, red and black, are also nice, but I really like his white ones the best.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear Accessories

These are some of the shoes, hats and other accessories that was seen during the Marc by Marc Jacobs Fall 2008 RTW show. The colors of his clothes this season is a bit on the tame side, and it is reflected in these accessories.

I absolutely adore the fuchsia shoes!

Louise Goldin Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear

These are some of Louise Goldin's Fall 2008 RTW collection. Okay, sweater dressing is fine, but these designs are a bit too radical/extreme for me. Ethnic patters (resembling Eskimo clothes) plus a bit of designs that seem to be taken out of some random Star Wars movie doesn't really make a nice outfit for me.

Donna Karan Fall 2008 Accessories

These are the accessories that can be seen in the recent Donna Karan Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear collection. The colors themselves are in autumn shades which directly reflects the season where these can be seen. I personally don't like these earthy tones since I see them as something quite dry, but I like the bags.

For the men, these are some of the Fall 2008 RTW collection from Y-3. I think they look great, urban yet classy. Some of the clothes here can be worn in both casual and formal occasions, right?

Anna Sui Fall 2008 Ready-to-Wear

These are Anna Sui's Fall 2008 RTW collection. Ann Sui has been busy, judging from the amount of designs she did for this season. They look pretty ethnic-inspired to me, some remind me of Tibetan clothing, although I've seen national costumes of a country from Europe (forgot which!) that are similar in one way or the other.

Love Drug Store

Love Drug Store, or LDS, is a popular Japanese brand. I don't think their products can be bought anywhere else except in actual LDS stores in Tokyo. (I'm not too sure if they have other stores outside Tokyo though.)

These are Thakoon's Fall 2008 RTW shoes. I like the whole concept of a laced high-heeled shoe and the bright colors used - blue and yellow - make it more wonderful to look at.

Fall 2008 Lingerie Forecast
